Before and After Restoration

Re-creating an old furniture or period piece can be a very fun, challenging project experience for even the most experienced repairers and restorers.  This period piece was salvaged from a plantation home that was being destroyed, and it was meticulously removed by a lover of old pieces for a large entryway mirror in his new home.  Note the severe damage, particularly to the capitals on top of the columns.

The capitals had to be completely restored since there was only one actual corner left intact.  The entire project was stripped by hand due to the enormous weight of this seven foot tall piece.  The original mirror was kept intact and cleaned thoroughly on the front, the age showing through the glass was left intact to preserve the history of the piece.

Pictures really never do a finished project justice, but this was such a beautiful piece after it was completed.

The delivery and set up in the owner's home was quite an experience, but the effect it had once it was in position was spectacular!
